When the Wall Street Journal ran an article about 4811 in June (compared by one wearer as being “like lace butter”), the next day women - and men - were lined up outside The Last Detail in Mequon. “And the phone was ringing,”says Ann Friedmann, one of the store’s owners. “If I had had them, I would’ve sold four or five to each of them,” Friedmann says.

The Last Detail is now stocked with 4811s, as is Gaby’s in Fox Point and J. Bird in the Third Ward. The stretch lace thong is gathering throngs of testimonials from Hollywood stars to working women for its comfort, one-size-fits-all fit and the fact that unlike other brands, its lines are invisible through form-fitting clothing.
