Inspiration Piece
One accessory navigates the design for an entire room

Designer Courtney Turall wanted to incorporate warmer colors in her master bath. She introduced earthy tones with a shimmer stone finish on the walls, painted by Trillium Crafted Surfaces, and added a rust-colored velvet drape. "The shimmer stone, with a creative application, gives you the highlights and lowlights in the room," says co-designer Pat Krejci.

With her creative eye, it doesn’t take much for Courtney Turall to find inspiration. The color concept for the master bedroom in her town of Delafield home started with a black and white pillow case.

In the master bath, an earth-toned area rug led to the soothing colors throughout the room. Turall and her mother, Pat Krejci, owners of Turall and Krejci Design, designed the suite that is a blend of contemporary and traditional.

The black wall created the perfect backdrop for the photos of the couple’s wedding day transferred onto gallery-wrapped canvas.

Krejci painted the artwork above the bed and the fireplace. "She wanted something clean and simple," she says of Turall. A see-through fireplace looks into the living room and the nesting tables with a traditional, eclectic look work nicely next to the fireplace.
