A cozy couch complete with bar is the ideal spot for cocktails by the lake.

When the warm weather finally arrives, Dana and Tom Schreibel don’t waste a minute of it. From their home on Lake Keesus they have views of Marshall Bay and two outdoor living spaces from which to enjoy it. "We entertain quite a bit. We actually hosted a wedding two years ago," Dana Schreibel says.

The couple added a 20-foot-by-30-foot patio with an outdoor kitchen, fire pit, hot tub, dining table and cozy seating area after they remodeled their home in 2004. The custom-built L-shaped counter surrounding the grill includes an alcove to store wood for the fire pit. The stonework was done by Richard Kempen Construction.

Tom Schreibel added the pergola onto the lower deck last year, along with the bar and outdoor sectional sofa. Kempen added a fieldstone retaining wall next to the deck, along with a slate tile walkway between the deck and stairs leading to the upper level.

"When we entertain we’ll have appetizers down below and dinner up above," Dana Schreibel says. "We tell friends who live on the lake to stop by and have a drink if they see us sitting out there."

The Schreibels can either sit by the fire or enjoy a meal on the upper deck at their Lake Keesus home.
