Delicious Decadence
Where to indulge in desserts laced with dark chocolate.

March 2018

Black-out Torte, Elsaís on the Park

Elsaís is known for its martinis and burgers, but it should also be known for this cake. Dense, moist chocolate cake comes with equally dark chocolate mousse, and some whipped cream to lighten things up.  Also delectable is the gooey butter cake with fudge.

Chocolate Trifle, Harbor House

Call it chocolate with a view. Layers of chocolate cake and dark chocolate pastry cream, plus whipped cream  and raspberry, make this the bomb.

Dark Chocolate Chiffon Pie, Story Hill BKC

A citrus shortbread cookie crust gets topped with some serious chocolate cream, orange-kahlua flavors and, oh, mounds of whipped cream. Itís over the top, but in the best way possible.

Chocolate Raspberry Dome, Le Reve Patisserie & Cafe

Picking just one dark chocolate dessert at Le Reve is nearly impossible ó there arenít any bad choices here, and no matter what patisserie confection you choose, youíll be over the moon and in love with it. The dome starts with a pistachio cake, then raspberry and dark chocolate mousse and raspberry gelee swirl together and get topped with a glaze of dark chocolate.

Dark Chocolate Apples, Amyís Gourmet Apples (formerly Amyís Candy Kitchen)

The basic dark chocolate over caramel over a ginormous Granny Smith apple is pretty darn tasty. But you can also add in Oreo cookies or Butterfinger candies or peppermint or colored jimmies ó or, well, just about anything yummy that goes with chocolate and apples. But probably the best is just plain, dark Belgian chocolate with a sprinkling of sea salt.

Chocolate Peppermint Trifle, Third Coast Provisions

Third Coast might be known for its seafood, but, letís be honest, youíre coming here for the dessert. The trifle layers a dark chocolate brownie, with milk chocolate pudding, peppermint cheesecake and chocolate sandwich cookies. It sounds crazy, and it is ó crazy delicious.
