The Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin has
announced the winners of its 2007 Torch Awards for Business Ethics and
Integrity, including: J.P. Cullen & Sons, Brookfield; Carmax Auto
Superstores of Wisconsin, Waukesha; R.A. Smith & Associates,
Brookfield; PyraMax Bank, Greenfield; and Fi-Med Management, Wauwatosa,
as an honorable mention. In addition, Donna Conant, Franklin, has been
named to a one-year term as chairman of the board of directors for the
Wisconsin Better Business Bureau. Conant is the director of information
technology services for We Energies and has served on the Better
Business Bureau board since 2001. Peter X. Engel, a senior vice
president for M&I Bank, will serve as vice chairman. In addition,
the BBB appointed Mark Bartolutti, Scott Falk, Rashelle LeCaptain and
Curtis Smith to its 2007-2008 board of directors. Bartolutti is co-owner
of Great Lakes Roofing Corp., LeCaptain, president of Connecting
Cultures, Falk is senior vice president of RW Baird, and Smith is vice
president/creative director for Cramer Krasselt Co.
National Survey & Engineering, Brookfield, a division of R.A. Smith & Associates Inc., has promoted Jonathan Schapekahm, Waukesha, to project manager. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has announced its West Suburban offices’ real estate sales leaders for December: Kathy Gullickson, Bonnie Svacina and Cindy Antonia, Metro West Suburban office in Brookfield; Pam Pedersen, Menomonee Falls office. Waukesha resident Dr. Hiroto Miura, assistant professor of cardiovascular medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, is principal investigator for a five-year grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health to develop new strategies for the prevention of atherosclerosis. Wauwatosa resident Dr. John P. Klein, professor of population health and director of biostatistics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, is principal investigator of a four-year grant from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health to develop statistical methods to analyze long-term outcomes of bone marrow transplantation. Brookfield resident William J. Stekiel, Ph.D., professor of physiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, was honored at the School’s 2007 convocation for 50 years of faculty service. He retired in 1993 and has continued to teach on a part-time basis.
