Special to The Freeman

Oct. 15, 2013

CHICAGO, Ill. – Macy’s Inc. will open at least some of its stores at 8 p.m. this Thanksgiving, breaking 155 years of tradition.

Macy’s will keep its flagship Chicago store open for 24 hours. The retailer will be joining a growing list of retailers who extended “Black Friday” sales into Thanksgiving.

The retailer has two Milwaukee-area stores, one at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa and one at Southridge Mall in Greendale.

For the past two years, Macy’s stores opened their doors at midnight following Thanksgiving.
