MILWAUKEE – Safe & Sound has named Katie Sanders as the new executive director of the nonprofit organization that works with youth, community organizations and law enforcement in Milwaukee.

Sanders has been the interim executive director since December. Prior to Sanders, Barbara Notestein held the position of executive director for 11 years.

“I am thrilled and honored to serve Safe & Sound in this capacity,” Sanders said. “Safe & Sound is doing incredible work to improve safety and quality of life in Milwaukee neighborhoods. This is an exciting time for us as we are engaged in a strategic planning process that will strengthen our ability to work with residents, youth and partners to build and sustain safe and vibrant communities in this wonderful city.”

Sanders joined Safe & Sound last May as the development and marketing director. She has a master’s degree from the LaFollette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her bachelor's degree is in political science and international relations.

Prior to Safe & Sound, Sanders was director of corporate and foundation relations at Marquette University.
