Venture Investors raises $80M fund

MADISON — Venture Investors has raised $80 million that will be used to help young companies in Madison.

The company will choose 12 to 15 companies over the next three to five years and provide them with initial funding as well as follow-up investments as they grow, according to the company. The company focuses on early-stage life science and technology companies.

This is the fifth fund for Venture Investors. Companies that have received early investments from Venture Investors’ fifth fund include two that are Madison-based. Nextt, which is an online, private social network, and Madison Vaccines Inc., with proprietary DNA vaccines.

The others are from Detroit, Cleveland, Texas and California, according to the company.
