Moira Desch of Waukesha looks at photographs of Martin Frank, who passed away Tuesday, in the lobby of St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday during Frank’s funeral. Desch was one of many friends who attended the service.

WAUKESHA - When the Rev. James Volkert spoke about Marty Frank’s life during a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday night, he described Frank as having lived well, laughed often and loved much.

"Marty wore his heart on his sleeve and he knew he couldn’t live well without loving much," Volkert said.

Frank died Tuesday of lung cancer at age 66. He had an impact on many lives as an employee, and later as the president and CEO, of Waukesha State Bank, and through his involvement in numerous organizations and nonprofit groups.

Volkert described a man who loved his family, his friends, his community, nature and God.

"‘I’m the luckiest guy I know’ - I heard Marty say that quite a bit and I heard him say it for the last time last Friday when I visited him at AngelsGrace (Hospice)," he said. "He was not only lucky, he was successful."

It was clear Friday night that Frank was very committed to the community as his involvement in local organizations, such as the Waukesha Family YMCA, the La Casa de Esperanza Foundation, Waukesha Memorial Hospital Foundation, Carroll College and many others was mentioned. It was also evident in the number of family and friends who paid their respects and in the kind words of remembrance spoken.
