sex ed curriculum
Recommendation aims to update courses

BROOKFIELD - After nearly five months of meetings, the Elmbrook School District’s human growth and development committee has presented a curriculum recommendation to the school board.

The Elmbrook School Board is expected to discuss the recommendation during Tuesday’s meeting and might possibly vote on it at the next board meeting.

The committee was established after school officials realized the curriculum had not been reviewed within the three-year window as required by state law. This was prompted by parents’ alarm at a proposal to explain oral sex to sixth-graders with mention that it could cause sexually transmitted diseases.
