Poker player guilty 
in child support case
Agreement drops charges to misdemeanors, 
calls for payments

WAUKESHA - A professional poker player entered into a plea deal Tuesday to resolve the felony charges against him of failing to pay child support, which calls for significant payments to the mother of his child even after the minor turns 18.

Scott Obst, 40, pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor failure to pay child support, saw another count dismissed and pleaded guilty to a felony count of non-support. But if he follows through on his three years of probation - the expected sentence - the felony charge would be reduced to a misdemeanor, according to an agreement signed by the parties.
