Colgate man charged in Nigerian re-shipping scam

WEST BEND - A 51-year-old Colgate man previously warned about his involvement with a re-shipping scam, has now been charged by the Washington County District Attorney's office after he continued his activities in the scheme.

Gerald Mackenzie is now facing felony charges of receiving stolen property and identity theft, according to the criminal complaint.

Federal and local authorities first became aware of Mackenzie's involvement last October when packages containing various items purchased with stolen credit card numbers were sent to his Hillside Road home, according to the complaint.
