Waste Management files unfair labor charge against Teamsters

WAUKESHA - One day after members of Teamsters Local 200 walked out on their Waste Management jobs, at least two area communities are feeling the impact as garbage collection is running at least one day behind in some neighborhoods.

Also Wednesday, Waste Management officials filed unfair labor practice charges against the union, accusing it of failing to bargain in good faith.

According to a Waste Management news release, union representatives "have refused to meet on four different occasions, and walked out of a fifth session after just five minutes."

In a statement, Michael Fleming, Waste Management’s Wisconsin market area general manager said, it has "become obvious to everyone that the union was simply stalling in the hope that their walkout would disrupt the Harley celebration."
