WAUKESHA - One day after members of Teamsters Local 200 walked out
on their Waste Management jobs, at least two area communities are
feeling the impact as garbage collection is running at least one day
behind in some neighborhoods.
Also Wednesday, Waste Management officials filed unfair labor
practice charges against the union, accusing it of failing to
bargain in good faith.
According to a Waste Management news release, union
representatives "have refused to meet on four different
occasions, and walked out of a fifth session after just five
minutes."
In a statement, Michael Fleming, Waste Management’s Wisconsin
market area general manager said, it has "become obvious to
everyone that the union was simply stalling in the hope that their
walkout would disrupt the Harley celebration."
