Anthony Donkle, 4, talks on a cell phone recently while sitting on a wall of sandbags in front of his grandparents’ home in the town of Mukwonago. Town officials are considering a plan to drain the floodwaters from Country Bliss subdivision.

TOWN OF MUKWONAGO - The equipment sits in the Country Bliss subdivision waiting to be used as officials revisit a plan to pump water into Jericho Creek in response to some objections.

On Wednesday, the Town of Mukwonago Board voted to spend up to $125,000 to pump the water out of the subdivision, which continues to be engulfed by water. Town Chairman Dave Dubey said the town’s decision to pump water out of the subdivision was prompted by water flooding roadways.

Neighbors contend the flooding has been an issue for some time now and started long before last month’s intense rainfalls. One resident has been actively using a water pump since 2006.

Plans were put on temporary hold a few days ago after the state Department of Natural Resources was contacted about a drainage ditch on Highway E that leads to Jericho Creek, but goes through private property.
