WAUKESHA - The North Prairie man who posted a video on YouTube of him and his father stunning each other with a stolen police Taser received two years in prison Thursday.

Paul Crowell, 22, plead guilty to possession of an electric weapon for an incident that occurred on the morning of Jan. 1. According to court documents, Crowell came in contact with a East Troy police officer in Walworth County after his vehicle was found a ditch near highways L and 20 in East Troy. In an attempt to keep him warm while the officer interviewed Crowell’s passengers, she allowed him to sit in her squad car, where he took the Taser by reaching under the cage, court documents indicate.

It wasn’t until she dropped them off at a gas station that she noticed the Taser missing from her vehicle. The Taser was recovered in Waukesha County on Jan. 3. Police learned of the video on YouTube, the popular video-sharing Web site, from a 16-year-old girl Crowell showed the recording to, court records indicate.

Crowell’s father, Paul Dupey, of the town of Waukesha, pleaded guilty Monday to possession of an electric weapon for his role in the case. He is to be sentenced Aug. 6.
