WAUKESHA - The transformation of a
blighted industrial area into Waukesha's largest-ever retail center
began in earnest Tuesday, as developer Opus North broke ground on
the 54-acre Shoppes at Fox River.
Les Bloom of Opus North said the project at 1200 W. Sunset Drive,
which is slated for completion in the latter half of 2009, will
bring three anchor tenants and 20 to 25 smaller retailers to the
former site of food wholesaler Supervalu. Demolition of the
Supervalu building is already complete and crews are currently
clearing debris from the site.
