Developer breaks ground on Waukesha's largest retail center
Pick n Save to become project's second anchor store

WAUKESHA - The transformation of a blighted industrial area into Waukesha's largest-ever retail center began in earnest Tuesday, as developer Opus North broke ground on the 54-acre Shoppes at Fox River.

Les Bloom of Opus North said the project at 1200 W. Sunset Drive, which is slated for completion in the latter half of 2009, will bring three anchor tenants and 20 to 25 smaller retailers to the former site of food wholesaler Supervalu. Demolition of the Supervalu building is already complete and crews are currently clearing debris from the site.
