State’s largest conservancy 
gift leaves ‘a legacy’
$12 million value on 374-acre town of Eagle spot

TOWN OF EAGLE - Southwestern Waukesha County is the recipient of the state’s greatest conservancy gift.

A 374-acre property, along with a home and personal possessions - all valued at more than $12 million - were given to The Nature Conservancy in the wills of Newell and Ann Meyer in October, said Patricia Morton, the Mukwonago River Watershed Project director. Since then, work has been ongoing to develop the property as the Newell and Ann Meyer Nature Preserve, to open in the fall of 2009.

"This is the largest conservancy gift - dollar-wise - in the history of Wisconsin," Morton said.
