Kohl's June sales beat estimates
Company was bright spot in tough month for retailers

MENOMONEE FALLS - Kohl's June performance was a small bright spot in an otherwise difficult month for retailers.



The Menomonee Falls-based company reported that same-store sales - revenue from locations that have been open for at least a year - increased 2.3 percent in June. That number beat estimates from industry analysts who had predicted relatively flat same-store sales.

Total sales for the value-oriented department store chain increased 10.9 percent for the month, largely a result of Kohl's opening 123 new stores during the past 12 months.
