WAUKESHA - The Waukesha County Fair was bustling with activity
Sunday afternoon, as people walked through the grounds eating,
drinking, playing games and catching up with friends.
The fair came to end Sunday, after four days of activity.
Some people were playing with water, a great relief since the sun
was beating down on the grounds. Using buckets, people were able to
swing balloons full of water to those on the other side of them.
Others were inside, away from the sun, watching as a group
tap-danced to pop music in the 4-H Forum.
Fair activities included truck-and-tractor pulls, karaoke, the
band "Hootie & the Blowfish" and a pie-eating contest.
Eleven people participated in the pie-eating contest. The emcee,
Matt Voell of Kids Are People Too, told the participants they had
two minutes to eat as much pie as possible.
"The more pie on that face, possibly the better. We’ll
see," he said.
As Voell and the crowd in the Children’s Tent yelled
"Go," the contestants dove into their pies. Some had a
meticulous way of eating the pie, while others ate away, throwing
caution to the wind. They got pie all over their face and hair as
the crowd cheered them on.
