Black job applicant alleges Waukesha County discriminated in hiring
Local NAACP chapter supports claim; 
county waiting for EEOC decision

WAUKESHA - A Milwaukee woman and the NAACP of Waukesha County are accusing county officials of purposefully overlooking qualified minority job applicants in favor of less-qualified white applicants in their hiring practices.

Bernadine Matthews of Milwaukee, who is black, has filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after she was turned down for a county support specialist position in 2006 and later found out a week after human resources staff told her the position was filled, they allegedly held interviews for the position and eventually hired a less-qualified white woman.
