Brookfield wants out of convention 
and visitors bureau
Group would lose about 78 percent of its funding

BROOKFIELD - The city is looking to leave the Brookfield Convention and Visitors Bureau to a third-party for its hospitality and promotional needs, which would result in the bureau losing nearly 70 percent of its funding.

The possibility was introduced to the city’s economic development committee Monday afternoon.

On the recommendation of Brookfield Mayor Jeff Speaker, city department heads and other city staff, Brookfield would like to begin the process of preparing a request for proposals with third-party groups for tourism and hospitality promotion services, said Dan Ertl, director of the city’s department of community development.
