WAUKESHA - A new study released by the
Wisconsin Education Association Council says that 94 percent of
school districts surveyed in the state are now making budget cuts
and eliminating programs and staff due to the school funding
formula.
According to the survey, the majority of cuts by districts mirror
those of the Waukesha School District and 27 areas of educational
services have been effected, which WEAC officials said shows the
time to change the laws are needed now more than ever.
"This isn’t a partisan issue and we’re going to continue
working with legislators," WEAC Vice President Guy Costello
said. "This is hitting all of our schools directly."
WEAC is the state’s public school teachers union.
