WEST BEND - The Board of Public Works and Common Council could approve a city resolution opposing Washington County’s proposed water infiltration rate requirements for erosion control and storm water management at their meetings Monday.

The proposed county ordinance would require 100 percent of water runoff from a so-called 2-year, 24-hour storm — in which more than 2.7 inches of ran falls in 24 hours — to be infiltrated into the ground, according to a draft of the resolution.

The state Department of Natural Resources offers a model ordinance which requires only 25 percent of runoff from residential plots and 10 percent of runoff from nonresidential plots be infiltrated into the ground, according to city Engineer Judy Neu.
