Hank Aaron satisfies another big crowd

Hank Aaron, baseball Hall of Famer and Milwaukee Braves legend, delivered the commencement address during the graduation ceremonies at Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. In recognition of his inspirational service to the nation through his leadership and his creation of the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, CUW presented Aaron with a Honorary Doctorate of Laws.


MEQUON - Baseball hall of fame legend Hank Aaron spoke to approximately 392 undergraduate students, 174 master’s candidates and 20 doctor of physical therapy students who received degrees at Concordia University’s spring commencement held Saturday in the R. John Buuck Field House in Mequon.

Aaron played for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves from 1954 to 1974 before joining the Milwaukee Brewers for his last two years in Major League Baseball in 1975-76, before retiring.

The former Mequon resident received an honorary doctorate of laws from the university, which recognized Aaron for the inspirational service he gave the nation through his leadership in America’s favorite pastime and his creation of the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, which helps children with limited opportunities develop their skills and follow their dreams.

Aaron is currently the senior vice president of Atlanta National League Baseball Club Inc.
