Rodney Hathaway, left, and Terence V. Pavlic of Hathaway-Nguyen Capital Management in Delafield launched the business to choose investments in Vietnam for their clients.

DELAFIELD -
When Americans think about Vietnam, some conjure up images of a war-torn nation, while for others it may be a tropical landscape dotted with huts and dirt roads.

But in reality, the socialist country of more than 85 million people has quietly come a long way since the Vietnam War.

"It’s one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and it’s been consistently growing for the last decade," said Duc Rodney Hathaway, who was born in Saigon, now Ho Chi Minh City.

Hathaway, who came to America with his family in 1971, and Terence V. Pavlic, both of whom carry extensive investment management backgrounds, formed Hathaway-Nguyen Capital Management Inc. in Delafield last November.

The firm’s investment objective is to seek long-term capital appreciation by investing in a portfolio of Vietnam-related stocks.
