Concerns raised about liability over messages

BROOKFIELD - The Elmbrook School District is looking at banning text messaging between students and teachers, along with communication via online networking sites like Facebook and MySpace.

The school board was supposed to vote on the policy last week during its regular board meeting, but discussion on the subject indicated the issue wasn’t settled. Superintendent Matt Gibson suggested the issue go back to the policy and legislative committee for review since both sides had strong feelings about their positions.

The next committee meeting is 5:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in Room 161 of the central administrative offices, 13780 Hope St. in Brookfield.
