OCONOMOWOC - As Dorner Inc. construction crews finish the downtown reconstruction project in Oconomowoc, one resident is planning to sue the construction company and We Energies for rupturing a gas pipe that led to the explosion of a church April 2.

Tom Lemieux said he intends to sue Dorner and We Energies for $1 million each for lost possessions in his wife’s house, which was destroyed in the explosion, along with First Baptist Church and another neighboring building.

"I noticed Dorner was packing up their trucks and ready to roll out of town," Lemieux said. "I just want to let them know that I’m coming after them one way or another. If I can’t get a lawyer to do it, I’ll act as a lawyer on my own behalf."

No lawsuit has been filed yet.

Lemieux said he is unable to find a lawyer to represent him. He said several attorneys have turned down his request for representation because he was not hurt by the explosion.

The house at 20 S. Worthington St. was owned by First Baptist Church and rented by his wife, who lived there with their three daughters. They were not at home at the time of the fire. Tom Lemieux was staying at another house in Oconomowoc at the time.
