West Bend man injured when 
he’s pulled into gravel hopper
After 45 minutes, he’s freed, airlifted to hospital

A Flight For Life helicopter responded responds to an accident Tuesday afternoon at Cedar Lake Sand and Gravel in the town of Addison. A 24-year-old West Bend man was injured.


TOWN OF ADDISON - A 24-year-old West Bend man was taken by air ambulance to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa after getting stuck in a gravel hopper at Cedar Lake Sand & Gravel Tuesday.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department received a call at about 11:30 a.m. that Raphael Palacios-Fuentes, 24, was trapped in the hopper, Capt. Steve Gonwa said.

Palacios-Fuentes and a coworker were doing maintenance on a conveyer, which rises about 30 feet above the gravel pit floor, Gonwa said.
