Tate Trottier Wasielewski, 18, was charged Thursday with the negligent handling of a weapon, as well as two counts of disorderly conduct. All are misdemeanor charges and he could face up to 12 months in jail if convicted.

A criminal complaint in the case said police were called to South on July 22 after a disturbance in a classroom. There, a student reported he was in a home economics class with Wasielewski when they were cutting an object with a scissors. Wasielewski reportedly pulled out a buck knife with a folding blade, saying, "I’ve got something that can cut it faster," the complaint said.
