WAUKESHA - Although freshman Jennifer Allman has only gone to Carroll University and not Carroll College, when she graduates she might ask for her diploma to say Carroll College.

“I kind of like the previous name better,” she said. “‘College’ has has a much better ring to it.”

Allman isn’t alone. According to university officials, students at the school are asking for the opportunity to get “Carroll College” on their diploma and they’re going to oblige the request.

Claire Beglinger, spokesman for Carroll University, said some students who have been at the school for several years have begun asking to have their degrees say Carroll College instead Carroll University. She said administration recognizes the strong emotional ties students have to the institution, so out of respect, they’ll offer the diploma option.
