NEW BERLIN - With a 24-year-old family member fighting a heroin addiction, New Berlin resident Mary Yusefzadeh was searching for answers from a presentation by state law enforcement officials on what is considered a growing problem in the region.

"I’m grasping at any kind of help I can get, " she said.

Michael Fesenmaier, the principal at Eisenhower Middle-High School, said Sunday’s event at Woodridge Community Church was designed to bring awareness about drug use in the community among the younger members. A handful of parents and community members attended the presentation given by David L. Spakowicz, a member of the state’s Department of Justice division of criminal investigations.
