Courts could get involved in Waukesha water problem
City faces possible $5,000 daily fine

WAUKESHA - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is hoping to get a court order against the city to document the steps Waukesha still needs to take to bring its drinking water into compliance with federal standards on radium.

Susan Crawford, DNR division of enforcement and science administrator, said the DNR has referred the matter to the state’s Department of Justice for legal action.
