MEQUON - The discovery of a dead adult bald eagle Sunday in Mequon could have adverse effects on its population in Southeastern Wisconsin, said a regional ecologist with the Department of Natural Resources in Milwaukee.

"Eagles are monogamous and mate for life. The remaining eagle will have to find a new partner," Owen Boyle said. "It’s possible it could go somewhere else. If the parent doesn’t return, it’s also a possibility that once their juvenile grows it will find a mate and come back to its nest. We will have to wait and see what happens."
