WAUKESHA - Promoters of the Weekend in Waukesha say they are
sorry it’s over - and ecstatic it’s over.
The three-day, four-night celebration of the 105th
anniversary of Harley-Davidson motorcycles held over Labor
Day weekend in Cutler Park and downtown attracted between
175,000 and 190,000 people, according to police estimates,
said Steve Meulemans, who along with Drew Vallozzi and Andy
Ruggeri make up Bethesda Events LLC, the party’s
organizers.
"It was physically and emotionally involving, 24-7, for
days, weeks and months," Meulemans said about all the
planning that went into throwing a party for thousands and
thousands of people.
"It was everything we planned and thought it would be
and more," Meulemans said. "It was hard to count
all the people as they came and went and were spread out,
but we think we had 12,000 to 15,000 on Thursday, and 75,000
to 90,000 on Saturday."
