WAUKESHA - With three seats open on the
Waukesha School Board, the three incumbent candidates were elected
Tuesday to continue holding those positions.
Incumbents Patricia Madden (4,972 votes, 27 percent) Daniel
Warren (4,858 votes, 26 percent) and Patrick McCaffery (4,710 votes,
25 percent) were re-elected. Newcomer and challenger Mary Boudry
received 4,176 votes, or 22 percent, and there were 67 write-in
votes, according to unofficial results.
There were a total of 18,783 votes from seven municipalities that
the school district serves, according to those unofficial results.
Among the issues facing the board is a more than $1 million
budget shortfall at a time when the recession is putting downward
pressure on tax revenues at various levels of government.
Superintendent Todd Gray has introduced several preliminary ideas to
cut spending, which the three incumbents indicated would allow the
district to save money without cutting vital programs or closing
schools.
