OCONOMOWOC - A newcomer will join two incumbents in filling three seats on the Oconomowoc School Board following Tuesday’s election.

Incumbent John Griswold garnered the most votes with 2,967, followed by fellow incumbent Don Wiemer with 2,952. Newcomer David Guckenberger picked up 2,026 votes, while candidate Tom Martin received 1,948 votes. Current board member Kim Schultz decided to step down.

Although Martin withdrew his candidacy for the school board and town of Oconomowoc board, he remained on the ballot. In a letter issued March 9, he stated the current economic crisis and high taxes motivated him to sell his house and move to Texas.

The preliminary election results are expected to be canvassed by the Oconomowoc Area School District today.
