Carl Pettis signs a petition Thursday at Fun World in Brookfield to recall Gov. Jim Doyle. Pettis is considering signing up to be an organizer for the Recall Doyle effort, he said.

BROOKFIELD - The background noise may have been loud at Fun World on Thursday night, but the message Recall Doyle volunteers sent out was even louder.

The public information meeting Thursday was organized by Citizens for Responsible Government and Wisconsinites Interest Now members to attract volunteers in an effort to recall Gov. Jim Doyle.

"Jim Doyle is a perfect example. He doesn't care what harm he does to Wisconsinites. He's self-serving. He's only concerned about his position," Richard Chase of Hartford said.

Chase said he is going to volunteer for the Recall Doyle effort, which will be the first time he has ever volunteered for a political cause.

"I believe in the cause," he said. "And the way things are going, more people are being taxed without representation."

The meeting at Fun World, 19800 Bluemound Road, was intended to sign up volunteers and to answer questions they may have about the effort to recall the governor. Those volunteers will be called upon to get signatures for a petition to recall Doyle once it has been created.

About 75 people listened intently during Thursday's meeting, asked questions and said they would volunteer.
