WAUKESHA - Several local lawmakers are trying again to make
Wisconsin’s biennial budget process more open in order to bring
more scrutiny to the practice.
State Rep. Bill Kramer, R-Waukesha, Rep. Leah Vukmir, R-Wauwatosa,
Rep. Rich Zipperer, R-City of Pewaukee, and Rep. Brett Davis,
R-Oregon, announced Tuesday they’re introducing a legislation
package that would not only change budget accounting practices, but
create an Internet database of all state expenditures and salaries.
"It’s not something that’s meant to be vindictive. The
object is to make the information available," Kramer said.
"One person’s pork is another person’s pet project. It’s
not going to say if the projects listed are good or bad. It’s just
going to list them in detail."
