Waukesha County avoids major problems from weekend ice
Some issues on side streets but nothing extreme

WAUKESHA - Icy conditions in Waukesha County created some problems this weekend, although nothing too serious.

One person slipped on icy pavement and broke her hip, and another ran into a pole in the parking lot of Arrowhead High School because of the ice. However, law enforcement officials said they did not receive an increased number of reported accidents or any other ice-related problems during the weekend.

Freezing rain Saturday night created ice-covered roadways, sidewalks and parking lots. Waukesha Police Lt. Ron Tischer said Sunday afternoon the main roads were fine, but the side streets proved to be the problem areas. He said crews from the Waukesha city garage were out early Sunday putting salt on the roads.
