WAUKESHA - There are some old faces
returning to municipal and school board politics in the April
elections. And in North Prairie, there will be a new president in
town through some last-minute candidacies and an interesting
selection method.
Tuesday was the deadline for candidates to make it on the ballot
for April elections at the municipal and school district level.
Primaries will be held Feb. 17 and the general election is April 7.
After no one showed interest in becoming the new North Prairie
Village Board president, two current trustees have entered the race.
Trustees Deborah Hall and Joseph Hoelkinger will square off for
the president position, while still vying for re-election to the
village board. The top vote-getter in the president’s race can
choose to serve as president or as a trustee, in a move that is not
used too often by municipalities.
