to the April races
North Prairie has unusual race; Waukesha alderman 
and school board members face challengers

WAUKESHA - There are some old faces returning to municipal and school board politics in the April elections. And in North Prairie, there will be a new president in town through some last-minute candidacies and an interesting selection method.

Tuesday was the deadline for candidates to make it on the ballot for April elections at the municipal and school district level. Primaries will be held Feb. 17 and the general election is April 7.

After no one showed interest in becoming the new North Prairie Village Board president, two current trustees have entered the race.

Trustees Deborah Hall and Joseph Hoelkinger will square off for the president position, while still vying for re-election to the village board. The top vote-getter in the president’s race can choose to serve as president or as a trustee, in a move that is not used too often by municipalities.
