BROOKFIELD - One of the reasons Luke Fichtner decided to open his
own gym, Axiom Health and Fitness, was to help kids live healthier,
more active lives.
"It teaches them life skills and it’s really helpful for
the parents too because they’ll be taught how to reinforce the
lessons with the kids at home," he said.
Axiom Health and Fitness, 17700 W. Capitol Drive in Stonewood
Village, is currently accepting members but Fichtner is still
working on the final steps of setting up the 5,000-square-foot
business. Fichtner said he hopes to have his business open by the
end of the month.
Fichtner has been a personal trainer for 10 years and has worked
in people’s homes and at health clubs. He said it’s always been
his dream to have his own business with a physical location.
"I took this approach because I see it as a necessity,"
Fichtner said of educating kids on habits for living a healthy life.
Axiom Health and Fitness can also work with schools, park and
recreation departments and sports clubs to help develop exercise
programs for kids, he said.
Adults will also find a comfortable, non-intimidating place to
work out at Axiom, Fichtner said. The location will include a
kitchen where people can eat organic and nutritious foods and a
social area with a TV.
He said clients can learn what food they should eat and what they
should stay away from.
"We just want everyone to start getting active,"
Fichtner said.
A special offer at Axiom Health and Fitness is the unlimited
group membership, where clients can have as many sessions as they
can fit into a time period for a flat fee.
Fichtner said Axiom personal trainers will work with clients on
nutrition, in addition to exercises.
Brookfield chiropractor Don Hundt is working with Fichtner to
promote a healthy lifestyle. Hundt owns Hundt Chiropractic and
Wellness Center, 19035 W. Capitol Drive.
"He really understands how to get people from where they are
to where they want to be," Hundt said of Fichtner.
The two will also partner on offering some special services and
educational talks, including Hundt’s talk on the "100 Year
Lifestyle."
"There doesn’t need to be limitation on your mind and body
as you get older, but you need to be an active participant,"
Hundt said.
He also works with young people, including local school teams.
"I want to make sure every time you go to the gym, your body
is going to have a response and we to make sure it is
positive," Hundt said.
Fichtner said the youth fitness programming at Axiom Health and
Fitness is "extremely inexpensive" and will be under $100
per month. Fifty-minute youth sessions will be offered after school
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. He said parents can
watch their kids or exercise at the same time. Axiom Health and
Fitness will offer family discounts.
