WAUKESHA - As customers walked into the new Menards Mega Store during its opening Tuesday, they were greeted by an expansive view of cabinetry, tools, home decorations and even a piano.

The 240,000-square-foot Waukesha Menards Mega Store is the third Menards to have two stories. The other two are in the Twin Cities and a Chicago suburb.

"They couldn’t believe it. They’ve never seen anything like this before. This is the only home improvement store like this," Waukesha Menards general manager Mike Pacocha said of the first customers Tuesday.

A glass elevator and escalators built for people with shopping carts are two features to get shoppers from the first to second floor. A baby grand piano stands next to the escalators. A large variety of items for home and garden can also be found in the rows of shelves.
