Familiar names Laimon and Knutson want to be village president

PEWAUKEE - Voters shouldn't need a program to recognize the candidates when they elect a new village president April 7.

Two veterans of Pewaukee politics are seeking the two-year term, which became a wide-open race when Village President Chuck Nichols opted to step down after two terms.

Trustee Jeff Knutson hopes to thwart the comeback attempt of former village president and trustee John Laimon. The election comes at a pivotal time for the village, as merger talks with City of Pewaukee heat up and a faltering economy squeezes the pocketbooks of residents and the municipality alike.
