SLINGER - Green Bay Packers great Donald Driver drove home a simple message Thursday morning to the kids at Slinger Elementary School: Aim high, stay in school and give back when given the chance.

It's something he said they've already done.

"You all have taken that next step to show the world that you can give back," Driver said. "Not too many people are able to say that."

Driver's visit was prompted after Slinger students, faculty and their families banded together to collect an area-best total of 27,965 items in Goodwill Industries' Pack'er Up Donation Challenge.

When items were taken to area Goodwill stores from April 20 to May 10, customers were given a special donation slip where they indicated their chosen school name, city and the number of items they had brought in.

The slips were collected and carefully tallied, said Goodwill's vice president of marketing, Pat Boelter. Competition wasn't even close.

"Slip after slip after slip said ‘Slinger Elementary School,'" Boelter said.
