OZAUKEE COUNTY - Area school
officials said it’s far too soon to sound any budgetary
alarms about Gov. Jim Doyle’s proposal to trim state aid
to schools. Until the governor and the legislature define
what those cuts are and put it into writing, it is hard to
say what impact the announcement could have, they said.
"Understanding the broader economic issues, it
wasn't a surprise," Cedarburg Superintendent Daryl
Herrick said of the governor’s proposal. "We were
aware that there was a potential for something of this
nature to occur."
