WAUKESHA - In preparation for high speed rail, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is looking to upgrade 17 railroad crossings in Waukesha County.

The crossings, which extend from Forest Grove Drive in the village of Pewaukee to Reddelien Drive in Oconomowoc, would be upgraded to accommodate the high speed rail line in 2010. None of the municipalities where the crossings are located would be charged for the upgrades.

The project has been petitioned to the Wisconsin Railroad Commissioner’s office, with the final decision set to come after June 15.
