PEWAUKEE - Ashley Furniture Home Store is expected to return to its former location at Pewaukee Plaza, 1268 Capitol Drive, Sept. 1, a decade after it left.

Ashley HomeStores is the largest retailer of furniture in the world with over 700 locations globally.

"We couldn't be more excited to bring the number one retailer of furniture and mattresses in North America, Ashley HomeStore, back to Pewaukee," Bill Fonti, owner of the Ashley HomeStores of Milwaukee, said in a press release. "We're bringing our family owned and operated style of retail to both existing Milwaukee Ashley stores, in Richfield and Greenfield, as well as this new location in Pewaukee."

The location, over 58,000 square feet in size, was vacant less than six months after it was purchased by MLG Capital, said NAI MLG Commercial Senior Vice President Kevin Schmoldt.

"This sends a message of the strength of the Pewaukee retail market," Schmoldt said. "We're excited to welcome them back to the shopping center and the market and we're excited for what it means for the Pewaukee corridor."

Schmoldt added that MLG Capital's objective was to lease the large space first, and they are now shifting their attention to three other lots open for businesses in Pewaukee Plaza ranging from 1,200 square-feet to 2,400 square feet. A new facade is planned for the Ashley Furniture building along with the shop space between Ashley and Ace Hardware. Schmoldt said there has been interest in the smaller lots, and he believes the interest will increase once the facade renovations are finished.

Ashley will join Autozone, Ace Hardware and Waukesha State Bank along with CosmoProf, Brews Wine & Spirits and more.
