Olson had to medically retire from the military after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds and suffering from an IED blast. Olson was awarded numerous medals such as the Good Conduct Medal, achievement medals, Army commendations, NATO medals, and many more. He served two tours of duty in Afghanistan.

The home was made possible by Belman Homes and nonprofit Operation Finally Home and was built during the past year with the help and donations of many southeast Wisconsin suppliers and trade contractors.
