BERLIN —Costume and accessories retailer Buy Seasons,
Inc., has been acquired by a competitor, Rubie’s Costume
international company, Rubie’s Costume Company made the
announcement of the June 30 purchase on its Twitter page
According to its website, Rubie’s Costume Company is the
world’s largest designer, manufacturer and distributor
of Halloween costumes and accessories. Rubie’s Costume
Company is 66 years old and family owned.
“With the enhanced capabilities of BuySeasons, Rubie’s
will be able to offer our customers one of the most
modern and efficient third party logistics facilities
capable of fulfilling all of your costume and party
needs,” according to the announcement.
“BuySeasons will now allow Rubie’s to offer the leading
fulfillment operation to our wholesale customers. We are
extremely pleased to finally be able to offer a
state-of-the-art, fulfillment solution for our
customers,” Howard J. Beige, executive vice president of
Rubie’s, said in a statement.
Rubie’s has offices in 15 countries and is a major
licensee for leading studios such as Warner Bros.,
Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Nickelodeon and others.
Based in New Berlin, Buy-Seasons was started in 1999 and
is one of the largest fulfillment companies for both the
costume and party categories.
January 2016, BuySeasons announced it was laying off
nearly 130 employees and was in the process of
restructuring due to the current costume and party
supply market. At the time, the layoffs were to affect
more than one-third of its workforce at 5915 S. Moorland
“There have been changes in the marketplace, increased
competition, pricing pressure,” BuySeasons spokesman
Stephen Lyons said at the time of the layoffs. “With
that, the restructuring will allow BuySeasons to become
more competitive and viable in the future.”

dramatically increase our product offering as well as
enhance our worldwide sourcing abilities,” said Rick
Barton, president of BuySeasons, in a statement.
