ManpowerGroup earnings rise in 2Q

WAUKESHA — Revenues increased 3 percent during the second quarter for ManpowerGroup, which also saw an up tick in earnings.

The Milwaukee-based company reported Monday that its net earnings for the three months ending on June 30 were $117 million, or $1.72 per diluted share compared to net earnings of $115.4 million, or $1.60 per diluted share in the prior year period. Revenues for the second quarter were $5.2 billion, an increase of 3 percent from the prior year period.

The current year quarter included restructuring charges which reduced earnings per share by 10 cents.

According to the company, the financial results for the second quarter were affected by the stronger U.S. dollar compared to several foreign currencies’ value in the prior year period. On a constant currency basis, revenues increased 6 percent and earnings per share increased 9 percent, according to the report.
